Emphasis Energy LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the website www.emphasis.energy (“Site”), the Co-op Knowledge Platform (“Platform”), and the Emphasis Energy app for iPhone (“App”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

• Personal Information: such as your name, email address, company name, phone number, and other contact details when you register, sign up for updates, or contact us.
• Usage Data: information about how you use the Site or Platform (e.g., IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent).
• Cookies: small data files stored on your device to improve Site functionality and analyze usage. The Site uses Google Analytics to measure traffic; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Platform data: your work account identity from your organization's Microsoft sign-in, and your module and quiz progress.
• App data: the information described in section 6 when you use the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and improve our services.
• Respond to your inquiries.
• Send you updates, newsletters, or marketing communications (you can opt out).
• Monitor and analyze usage to improve the Site and Platform.
• Comply with legal obligations.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers who help us operate the Site, the Platform, and the App.
• Your employer, for Platform progress, when your organization licenses the Platform.
• Law enforcement or regulators if required by law.
• In connection with a merger, sale, or other business transfer.

4. Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Choices

• Opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions.
• Adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies.
• Contact us to access, correct, or delete your personal data.

6. The Emphasis Energy App for iPhone

This section applies to the App. Where it differs from the rest of this policy, this section controls for the App.

Location

With your permission, the App uses your device location to show nearby power plants and the utilities serving your county. Location is processed on your device. It is sent to our server only at the moment you collect a plant, to confirm you were within range of that plant, and we keep only the plant collected and the time. During an optional driving session, location is used in the background on your device to announce and collect plants as you pass them; the same rule applies, and only the collected plant and time are stored. We do not keep a history of your location, and we do not sell or share location data.

Account

You may sign in with Apple to collect plants and use the leaderboard. We receive an anonymous Apple user identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email address. Your name is shown to other users only if you choose “Real name” in the App's Profile; otherwise you appear under a generated handle. We store your handle, icon, collected plants, favorites and leaderboard preference so they follow your Apple ID across devices.

Purchases

Emphasis Pro is an optional subscription billed by Apple. We receive a signed confirmation of your subscription status from Apple and store that status. We never receive payment card details.

Public data

The plant and utility figures shown in the App are public data published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration and the U.S. Census Bureau. Viewing them does not require an account.

What the App does not do

The App contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it.

Service providers

Apple (sign-in and payments) and Microsoft Azure (hosting) process data on our behalf.

Deleting your data

Profile ▸ Delete account in the App removes your profile, collected plants, favorites and leaderboard entry from our servers immediately. You may also email hello@emphasis.energy.

7. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date.
